L
a Grave is a truly traditional alpine village dating back to the 12th century with a long and respected reputation as a center of alpinism. It was here, in the latter half of the 19th century, that early mounteneering pioneers, accompanied by both native and Chamonix guides, came to conquer the summits and seek new challenges.

Today it attracts the knowing mountain lovers who wish to experience the freedom, escape the masses, and explore a new different world. La Grave has retained all of its character, dominated by centuries of a severe existence at the foot of the peaks and faces of La Meije Massif
